Where Are We?
You will find Prospect Cottage located in the centre of the lower Wye Valley,
8 miles from both Chepstow and Monmouth.
The A466 follows the river Wye between these two historic market towns and at
Bigsweir the road crosses a narrow iron bridge controlled by traffic lights.
If you are coming from the Chepstow direction proceed over the bridge
and immediately turn right before the lodge house into the the Bigsweir estate.
If coming from the Monmouth direction turn left at the lodge house immediately before the bridge.
You are now on a private lane through the Bigsweir Estate and exactly 1 mile from Prospect Cottage.
Keeping to the right, the tree-lined drive leads towards Bigsweir House,
still keeping to the right, the lane then passes Bigsweir House
and continues directly along the river bank for a further half mile.
Here the lane starts to incline and after a further 200 yards you will find our gates and a warm welcome!
